Bottoms: ‘Donald Trump Continues to Chase Conspiracy Theories and Spread Lies About an Election that Happened Six Years Ago in a Desperate Attempt to Take Over Our State Elections’
ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement after the Washington Post published a new report detailing how Donald Trump is considering an executive order to interfere with 2026 elections, based on disproven conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
The report highlights Donald Trump’s plans to sign an executive order that would ban mail-in ballots and voting machines.
“Donald Trump continues to chase conspiracy theories and spread lies about an election that happened six years ago in a desperate attempt to take over our state elections. He coordinated an illegal FBI raid on Fulton County and now he’s threatening to break the law again in seizing power over our elections. The conspiracy theories behind these actions are ridiculous and the threat to our democracy is serious.
“Republican candidates for governor in Georgia refuse to stand up to Trump as they compete to be the lackey who will let him trample over free and fair elections. Georgia needs a governor who will take action when Donald Trump attacks the rights that we have fought for. As governor, I will protect Georgians’ right to vote and stand up to Trump’s attempts to interfere in our elections.”
