President Joe Biden: Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. I've known her for a long time, and she's something special.

As mayor of Atlanta, Keisha faced every challenge a leader could face and then some.

A global pandemic, a major cyber attack on the city systems, economic uncertainty that tested every community across Georgia, but she handled it all with steady, thoughtful leadership. That's the definition of battle-tested.

Keisha's tenure as mayor of Atlanta left $180 million in the bank without raising property taxes, gave historic pay raises to police and firefighters, created a Child Savings Account for every kindergartener in Atlanta's public school system.

That's a record to be proud of. And then she came to the White House and served as a senior advisor. And I'll tell you, those same qualities that made her a great mayor made her invaluable to our administration.

Smart. Focused. Gets things done. Georgia, she's ready. She's been ready.

Keisha Lance Bottoms for governor, now.

I'm proud to be in her corner, just like she was in mine.

So, let's get this thing done.

Background

Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced plans to lower health care costs and invest in Georgians’ education. Earlier this month, she announced her CARE Plan for a Healthier Georgia which will expand Medicaid, protect rural hospitals, and prevent Georgians who rely on the ACA from losing health care coverage by pursuing targeted premium support.

Bottoms also recently announced her plan to guarantee pre-K access to every 4-year old in Georgia and require full-day kindergarten for Georgia students.

She previously served as the 60th mayor of Atlanta from 2018 to 2022 where she made major investments in affordable housing, delivered historic pay raises for police officers and firefighters, supported small businesses, and brought in billions in capital investment.

Following her term as Mayor, Bottoms served as Senior Advisor to President Joe Biden, leading the transformation of the White House Office of Public Engagement. She also served as a member of the President’s Export Council and Chair to the First Responder Network Authority Board.

Bottoms is at least a fifth generation Georgian and has served as a judge and city councilwoman. She resides in Atlanta with her husband, Derek, and their four children.
