Bottoms: ‘Governor Kemp Should Act Now to Pause the Gas Tax and Provide Relief for Georgia’s Working Families’

ATLANTA — Following the Georgia House of Representatives passing a bipartisan bill to suspend the Georgia gas tax, Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms today called on Governor Brian Kemp to provide relief for Georgians by immediately pausing the tax on fuel.

This comes as fuel costs have soared in Georgia following Donald Trump's military strikes in Iran.

“Georgians are feeling major pain at the gas pump due to Donald Trump’s chaotic war in the Middle East. The price of gas in Georgia has increased by nearly $1 per gallon over the past month — a huge new cost for Georgia families. Governor Kemp should act now to pause the gas tax and provide relief for Georgia’s working families. I strongly support the bipartisan bill in the Georgia State House to suspend the gas tax.

“As governor, I will stand up for working families and take action to bring down costs.”
