Bottoms: ‘Trump Continues to Escalate His Attacks on Free and Fair Elections in Georgia, After His Lies Have Already Turned the Lives of Two Fulton County Poll Workers Upside Down’
ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement after a new report detailed how the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice filed a subpoena for personal information from Fulton County poll workers and volunteers that assisted in administering Georgia’s 2020 election.
The report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, states that the DOJ is requesting names, roles, home addresses, email addresses and personal phone numbers for Fulton County workers and volunteers involved in the 2020 election. Fulton County’s Board of Elections is working to block the subpoena.
This comes after Donald Trump coordinated an FBI raid at Fulton County’s election hub in February.
“Donald Trump continues to escalate his attacks on free and fair elections in Georgia, after his lies already turned the lives of two Fulton County poll workers upside down. These blatant attempts to interfere with our elections and intimidate Georgians must be met with strength, clarity, and accountability.
“Poll workers, many of whom are retired and elderly, are heroes. They keep our democracy functioning for all of us. As governor, I will protect poll workers’ personal information, defend free and fair elections, and fight Donald Trump’s attempts to take away Georgians’ voting rights.”
