Bottoms: ‘Donald Trump’s Actions are Driving up Costs and Creating More Economic Uncertainty in Georgia’
ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement on the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announcement that the U.S. lost 92,000 jobs in February. The BLS’s announcement also detailed that the U.S. saw five months of job losses in 2025 — the first year that has happened since the Great Recession.
Additionally, the report showed that healthcare employment decreased by 28,000 jobs in February.
“This new jobs report makes clear what Georgians are already feeling every day: Donald Trump’s actions are driving up costs and creating more economic uncertainty in Georgia and across the country. His tariffs and health care cuts are costing people jobs and driving up everyday expenses. Everywhere I go in Georgia, I hear from people who are doing everything right and still feeling squeezed by the economic chaos Trump has created.
“What’s just as troubling is that Georgia’s Republican candidates for governor refuse to stand up to him. Instead of fighting for Georgia families, they are standing by while costs go up, gas prices rise, jobs are put at risk, and health care becomes harder to afford. Georgia deserves leadership that is focused on lowering costs, protecting health care, and creating good-paying jobs in every part of our state — that's what I'll do as governor.”
