Keisha Lance Bottoms for Georgia Governor

PRESS RELEASE

On Friday, Keisha Campaigns in Albany, Tifton, and Perry Ahead of The First Weekend of Early Voting

ATLANTA — Yesterday, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms campaigned in Albany, Perry, and Tifton to encourage Georgians to vote during the first week of in-person early voting.

Keisha also joined MSNOW's The Last Word to call out Rick Jackson for campaigning with Donald Trump as his reckless policies raise prices for Georgians and force families off their health care coverage.

As Keisha spent the day talking with South and Middle Georgians, Rick Jackson was campaigning with a “great friend” of his, Donald Trump.

ALBANY

Keisha joined residents in Albany to discuss the importance of early voting to ensure Georgia has leaders who will work to bring down costs as Georgians face an affordability crisis.

“I want to be the favorite governor of the Golden Rams. I want to be the favorite governor of that single mother who's trying to figure out how she's gonna put gas in her car. I want to be the favorite governor of that Albany state student who said to me: ‘Miss Keisha, I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna pay my rent, how I'm gonna pay my books, and how I'm gonna put food on my table.’ I want to be the favorite governor of that small business owner that Daddy is trying his best to get it off the ground… I want to be the favorite governor of that senior who said ‘I take home $1,500 a month, my rent is $1,200, how am I supposed to pay for rent, gas, and utilities with $300 left and eat? ‘That's the favorite governor I want to be.”

TIFTON

In Tifton, Keisha called out Rick Jackson for campaigning with Trump as his policies cause Georgia families to struggle.

“As I'm standing here in Tifton, the guy I'm running against, Slick Rick, is in Dalton, Georgia, right now with Donald Trump…Now the reports I'm getting now is that he spoke at Trump's rally and he didn't even mention Trump's name, so he was afraid not to show up, but too afraid to say his name. If that's your man, stand with your man, Slick Rick.”

“Slick Rick may have the money, but the people still have the power.  So he doesn’t want you all to remember that he agreed with the tariffs from Donald Trump. These tariffs that have sent up fertilizer prices for our farmers 10 to 15 percent in the past year…The cost of gas has gone up significantly. The cost of groceries have gone up significantly. So while Slick Rick is standing with Donald Trump in Dalton, Georgia today, let me tell you what I'm going to do. He wants to be Trump's favorite governor. I want to be yours.”

PERRY

Keisha stopped by the Georgia National Fair in Perry and reminded Georgians about the importance of early voting.

Keisha also joined MSNow’s The Last Word:

Read and Watch for Key Excerpts From The Last Word:

“I started off in Albany, and then Tifton, and then ended it at the fair in Perry, Georgia, and that's not what I'm hearing from the people across the state. I can tell you, even in Whitfield County, where Trump was today, 20% of the people in Whitfield County rely on Medicaid. Trump has gutted Medicaid. It's estimated that 721,000 people in Georgia will lose their health  care over the next 10 years because of Donald Trump's cuts. Those cuts to the EPA should be concerning to the people in Georgia, where they are facing a crisis, they are concerned about forever chemicals in their water supply.”

“So people are recognizing that this sacred right to vote can easily be taken away, and Donald Trump is trying to do it single-handedly, and that Rick Jackson is standing side by side with him as he does it.”

“We are seeing a surge in turnout. Democrats across the state, we are already surpassing our numbers in 2022. When Donald Trump says he wants people to imagine that he's on the ballot. I am hoping…that people do just that because we've got farmers who are complaining about the cost of diesel, people are complaining about the cost of groceries — rightfully so. People are concerned about data centers popping up in their backyards, and the list goes on.”

“I saw a woman today when we were in Tifton who owns a mortuary who said that the price of caskets have even gone up. So Donald Trump is wreaking havoc for the living and the dead, right now.”
