BREAKING: New Polls Show Bottoms Leading Republican in General Election, Continuing Lead of Democratic Primary Field

Polling Analyst Jim Williams: Georgia’s Gubernatorial Race is Moving ‘Decisively in Keisha’s Favor’

New PPP Poll Shows Bottoms Ahead of Jones 41-39

ATLANTA — Less than 60 days ahead of Georgians casting their ballots in Georgia’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, two new polls show Democratic candidate for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms is in the best position to win in May and become the first Democratic governor elected in Georgia this century.

A recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling shows Bottoms leading Republican candidate Burt Jones 41% – 39%. The poll for the Bottoms campaign also shows her ahead with independent voters by a 23-point margin as 65% of these voters disapprove of Trump’s policies that are raising costs and threatening Georgia’s major industries.

According to the poll, if undecided voters supported the same party in 2026 that they supported in the 2024 presidential election, Bottoms would lead 52%–48%. This lead would grow to 54%-46% if they voted based on their approval of Donald Trump’s time in office.

Also, a new poll released today by Emerson College and Nexstar Media shows Bottoms continues to lead the Democratic primary field — with a 22-point margin.

“These new polls reflect what we’re hearing from Georgians as we travel across the state — they are excited about Keisha’s plans to make Georgia more affordable, expand access to healthcare, and stand up to Donald Trump’s chaos,” said Rashad Taylor, campaign manager for Keisha for Governor. “While Keisha has laid out her plans for Georgia’s future, Republican candidates for governor are refusing to stand up to Donald Trump’s disastrous policies while they compete for his attention. Our campaign is engaging directly with voters across the state putting us in the strongest position to not only win in May, but elect Georgia’s first Democratic governor in 28 years this fall.”

Read more on the polls below:

On the PPP Poll:

  • Polling Analyst Jim Williams: “This is exactly the environment where Keisha Lance Bottoms is strongest: she is already ahead in the topline, she has a clear consolidation advantage among persuadable voters, and she is overperforming with independents—even with more Democratic-leaning voters currently parked in ‘undecided.’”

  • “The direction of the race is clear: as undecided voters engage, this contest moves decisively in Keisha’s favor.”

On the Emerson College and Nexstar Media:

  • WSAV: “With the Democratic primary, former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is beating every other candidate, even when their percentages are combined.”
