Bottoms: ‘In the Year Since Donald Trump Implemented These Reckless Tariff Policies, Georgians have been Forced to Pay Higher Costs in Every Area of Their Lives’

ATLANTA — Today, Democratic candidate for governor released the following statement on the one-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day,” which marked the beginning of Trump’s tariff policies that have hurt Georgia’s economy, raised prices for Georgia families, and caused uncertainty for Georgia’s major industries.

Since Donald Trump implemented his tariffs, Georgia’s businesses and families have paid more than $13 billion — the fourth most of any state in the country. The tariffs have also caused uncertainty for Georgia’s businesses.

“In the year since Donald Trump implemented these reckless tariff policies, Georgians have seen costs increase in every area of their lives, yet President Trump is determined to continue these policies that are harming Georgia’s economy and making the affordability crisis worse. Georgians across the state are feeling the impacts of Trump’s tariffs — from workers at the Port of Savannah to businesses in Albany that support hundreds of jobs.

“As governor, I will lower costs for Georgia’s families and businesses, support job creation, and stand up to Trump Administration policies that hurt Georgia’s economy.”
