<h2>Keisha Lance Bottoms is a Democratic candidate running to serve as the next governor of Georgia to deliver for working families and stand up against the chaos coming from Washington.</h2>Keisha previously served as the 60th Mayor of Atlanta, where she steered the city through a pandemic, secured major investments in affordable housing, delivered a historic pay raise for Atlanta’s first responders, became a national leader on civil rights reforms, supported small business and economic opportunity and balanced the budget. During one of the worst economic downturns the world has ever faced, the Bottoms Administration delivered four years of balanced budgets, without resorting to property tax increases, layoffs, or furloughs of City employees. She will also expand the state’s small business loan and grant programs and ensure a fairer share of Georgia’s business investment dollars goes to smaller firms, which employ nearly half of the state’s workforce, because state economic policy should better reflect their outsized role in creating jobs and supporting local communities.

Retaining Qualified Educators for Guaranteed Pre-K and Required Kindergarten<ul><li>Guaranteed access to pre-K could require as many as 2,600 additional classrooms, 2,600 lead and assistant teachers respectively, plus substitutes and support staff across Georgia. </li><li>Keisha will expand the number of well-prepared early learning, pre-K, and kindergarten teachers who understand early literacy, language development, and the needs of young children by:<ul><li>Launching an Early Educator Workforce Compact that brings together public and private colleges, HBCUs, technical colleges, RESAs, local school systems, and approved providers to build a stronger pipeline of certified teachers and trained early childhood professionals that can instruct early learning classrooms. </li><li>Expanding pathways into early childhood education, strengthening teacher preparation, supporting classroom-based training, and helping more Georgians move into certified teaching roles. </li><li>Raising early childhood educator pay by closing pay gaps, supporting salary growth, and making sure compensation keeps pace with the expectations we place on the people preparing children to
