Bottoms: ‘Donald Trump has Already Increased Costs for Millions of Georgians, and this Backwards Federal Budget Would Make it Even Worse’
ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released a statement today on President Donald Trump’s proposed 2027 budget, which would cut funding for health care, education, agriculture, housing, and clean energy programs, while Trump increases funding for the war in Iran.
Donald Trump’s proposed budget would cut more than $15 billion for the Department of Health and Human Services and $5 billion cut to the National Institute of Health. Trump’s budget also calls for eliminating more than $2 billion for the Department of Education, nearly $5 billion for the Department of Agriculture, more than $10 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and more $15 billion for renewable energy and environmental projects.
“Donald Trump has already increased costs for millions of Georgians, and this backwards federal budget would make it even worse. This proposal would increase the cost of health care, cut support for Georgia schools and farmers, and threaten Georgia’s growing clean energy economy. Georgians can’t afford these reckless policies from the Trump Administration.
“Georgia needs leaders who will stand up for them by lowering costs, expanding access to affordable healthcare, creating jobs, and standing up to Donald Trump when he hurts Georgia — that’s what I’ll do as governor.”
