While Rick Jackson Was Too Afraid to Show up, Keisha Lance Bottoms Discussed Her Plans to Support Early Education:

Read and Watch Keisha’s Remarks Below:
“Show me your budget. I will show you your priorities. Making sure that families have the ability to place their children in pre-K if they so desire is a priority for being governor. Making sure that we have the money in the budget, making sure that we are tapping into where necessary the reserves that are currently in the lottery, which are nearly $2 billion. It should be a priority. It's an economic issue as well as an educational issue.”
“If we can be the best in business in the state, we can also be the best in education in the state. We need to make sure that we are fully funding education, that we are fully training our early learning providers, that we are providing the resources to make sure that our children are going into safe environments where they are able to learn, because there are not enough pre-K slots in this state.”
“We have many parents who are opting to send their children to unlicensed care providers, often with catastrophic consequences, we have seen unfortunately. We want to make sure that our providers are adequately trained, that the funding is in place, and that the option to send a child to pre-K or early learning is available to every family who so desires.”
