ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement on Vice President JD Vance holding a campaign rally at the University of Georgia today as the chaos coming from the White House harms Georgia.

This visit comes as the city of Athens has had to halt programs to upgrade transportation and keep Georgians safe because of reckless cuts from the Trump Administration — hurting the local economy. Georgia’s students are also facing a worsening job market because of the administration’s tariffs that are raising costs and threatening jobs.

“It’s no wonder that Republicans are worried about Georgia and sending the Vice President to campaign here,” said Bottoms. “Georgians are feeling the impact of the Donald Trump and JD Vance Administration’s chaotic policies that have raised costs for families and businesses across our state. Vice President Vance’s campaign stop today will be yet another reminder that the Trump-Vance economy is failing Georgians, while Republicans in our state refuse to stand up to the President. As governor, I will take action to lower costs for Georgians, and I will stand up to Trump and Vance’s damaging policies that raise costs for Georgians.”
