Bottoms: These Job Cuts are ‘a Direct Result of Donald Trump’s Reckless Actions’

ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement after SK Battery announced that they would be laying off nearly 1,000 employees at their plant in Commerce, Ga.

The layoffs come after Donald Trump eliminated incentives aimed at attracting manufacturing jobs in the United States, which brought more than $28 billion in investments to Georgia.

“This announcement that nearly 1,000 Georgians will lose their jobs is a direct result of Donald Trump’s reckless actions. My thoughts are with the people of Commerce as they deal with the impact of these layoffs on area families and the local economy.

“Georgia has been a national leader in bringing new manufacturing jobs to our state. As governor, I will work to protect our jobs and create opportunities for Georgians in every community. And I will stand up for Georgia families when Donald Trump’s policies hurt our communities.”
