Bottoms Calls for Continued Gas Tax Relief For Georgians
Bottoms: ‘I Urge My Republican Opponents to Join Me in Calling for A Continued Gas Tax Suspension’
ATLANTA — Today, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms called for a continued suspension of the gas tax to provide Georgians with relief as surging gas prices continue for working families.
She also called out Republican gubernatorial candidates, Burt Jones and Rick Jackson, for their silence on skyrocketing gas prices.
Gas prices in Georgia are currently averaging $3.83 per gallon, over a dollar more than the average price per gallon in February. Removing the gas tax suspension would implement the 33 cent per gallon tax in addition to soaring fuel prices.
“Georgians can’t afford a hike in fuel costs this summer. Georgia leaders should continue to extend the gas tax suspension to provide working families with relief from these spiking costs. Georgians are paying the price for Donald Trump’s Iran war, and they need leaders who will take every action possible to lower the price of gas.
“As governor, I will stand up for working families and take action to bring down costs. I urge my Republican opponents to join me in calling for a continued gas tax suspension.”
