Bottoms: ‘Trump Has Shown Us that He is Determined to Continue These Disastrous Tariff Policies’

ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement today regarding President Donald Trump's proposed new 10% global tariffs. Trump's proposal comes after the Supreme Court rejected his original tariffs, which have cost Georgia’s families and businesses more than $13 billion.

“Donald Trump has shown us that he is determined to continue these disastrous tariff policies that are raising prices and harming Georgia’s economy.  I have traveled across this state and everywhere I have gone, I have heard about the economic impact of Trump’s tariffs — from workers at the Port of Savannah to small business owners in Macon.

“The harm that Donald Trump has done has been felt across Georgia. The Republicans running for governor have made it clear that they will never lift a finger to stand up to Trump – and they will no doubt stay silent as Trump threatens new tariffs on Georgians. As governor, I will stand up for Georgia’s families and businesses when the chaos coming from Washington hurts our economy.”
