At Cobb County Rally, Keisha Lays Out Vision for ‘A Future Filled with Opportunity’ for Georgians
Keisha Also Called Out Rick Jackson For Campaigning With Donald Trump as Trump Hurts Georgia
Cobb County, Ga. — Today, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms joined Senator Jon Ossoff at a rally in Cobb County on the first weekend of early voting. During her remarks, Keisha highlighted the momentum behind the campaign and made clear the contrast in the race between “a man who looks out for himself and a woman who works for you.”
She also discussed her plans to expand Medicaid, lower costs for Georgians, and stand up to Trump’s reckless policies raising prices for Georgians.

“From starting a war that has driven up gas prices to cutting funding for education, veterans' affairs, and the CDC, his policies have made life more expensive for Georgians. Donald Trump hasn't just raised prices; he's also raised blood pressure, and has told us that he wants us to imagine that he is on the ballot. Well, we heard him loud and clear. We have already broken turnout records.”
“As we enter this final stretch, I keep thinking about the conversations I've had with Georgians from every corner of our state, the stories they've shared and the challenges they face are imprinted on my heart and in my mind. They become the faces of our fight for a better Georgia. Donald Trump's Big Ugly Bill has already forced nearly 600,000 Georgians to drop their health insurance, and has raised premiums for many more. And since Trump's reckless tariffs have gone into effect, families have watched the cost of gas and groceries continue to climb.”
“I want a better Georgia. I have two children in college and two in high school, and not a day goes by that I don't pray for them and think about their future. I know that Georgia can't be a better place for my children unless it’s a better place for your children, your family, and your community. I want Georgia to be a state where every child can receive a great education, pursue their dreams, and look toward a future filled with opportunity. I want Georgians to know that their future doesn't have to be limited by their circumstances, but shaped by their hard work, their determination, and the opportunities that are available to them. As governor, I want to help make Georgia a place where my children and every child across our state can build the future that they are excited about and can be proud of.”
“As your next governor, here is what I'm going to do. I'm going to work to bring down costs by giving local leaders the option to eliminate grocery taxes and eliminate taxes on diapers, baby formula, and feminine hygiene products. I'm going to lower the cost of driving by lowering the gas tax and getting rid of Georgia's tax on car insurance premiums. I am going to work to build more affordable housing, provide homeowners with property tax relief, and eliminate the tax Georgia's pay on homeowners insurance. I'm going to raise teacher pay, and guarantee pre-k for children across our state. I'm going to create a path toward free technical and community college so that young people and Georgians looking for new direction can gain the skills and obtain the education that they need to succeed.”
“On day one, I'm going to get to work expanding Medicaid, so that we can protect our hospitals and help more Georgians afford the health care that they need and deserve. And while Slick Rick is building a data center as we speak. I'm going to pause new construction on data centers, so that we can address concerns about rising utility bills and declining property values”
“Slick Rick sure has learned a lot from Donald Trump, and none of that has been helpful to the people of Georgia. Families across our state are facing rising costs and threats to their health care, and they're paying the price while insiders like Slick Rick Jackson benefit from a system that works in his favor.”
“He's also bragged about working behind the scenes to pass Georgia's six-week abortion ban. That same ban that has caused women experiencing miscarriages to needlessly suffer, and has even resulted in the death of loving mothers in this state. Slick Rick has even agreed that women who have been raped should have to prove it before they can access abortion care. As if that weren't enough, he's also found ways to profit from Georgia's health care system to the tune of nearly $1 billion, while he opposes Medicaid expansion. There's a clear contrast on the ballot this year, Georgia: a man who looks out for himself, or a woman who works for you. I intend to work for you, Georgia.”
