Bottoms Statement on Affidavit Showing The Trump Administration Cited Conspiracy Theories in Fulton County Raid

Bottoms: ‘This Unsealed Affidavit Confirms That the FBI’s Raid in Fulton County was Based on Debunked Claims from Donald Trump’s Own Handpicked Conspiracy Theorist’

ATLANTA — Democratic candidate for Governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement after a newly unsealed affidavit detailed how the Trump Administration cited debunked claims to obtain the warrant for the recent FBI raid at the Fulton County Election Hub. The new affidavit also shows that the FBI raid originated from a referral from Kurt Olsen, an election denier appointed by President Trump as the “Director of Election Security and Integrity.”

“This unsealed affidavit confirms that the FBI’s raid in Fulton County was based on debunked claims from Donald Trump’s own handpicked conspiracy theorist,” Bottoms said. “Donald Trump is obsessed with his election loss six years ago and he’s abusing his power to prompt this raid by the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence. Meanwhile, most elected Republicans in Georgia refuse to stand up to Trump. As Governor, I will stand up to protect our voting rights and our election workers.  

“It’s time for Trump to end this charade and stop wasting Georgians’ tax dollars.”
