Keisha Lance Bottoms Joins Latino Leaders to Emphasize the Stakes of The Election

ATLANTA — Yesterday, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms joined Latino leaders to highlight the stakes of the election for Georgia’s Latino community and encourage Georgians to get out the vote. Keisha also highlighted her plans to lower costs and create opportunities for Georgia’s Latino community and all Georgians.
Turnout amongst Georgia Latino voters has rapidly grown every election cycle. Latinos are the fastest-growing population in Georgia, accounting for more than 40% of Georgia’s population growth over the last five years. Latino Georgians also contribute more than $52 billion to the state’s economy and account for 10.4% of small business owners.
Keisha has laid out concrete plans that will create opportunities for Georgians in every community by lowering costs on housing, health care, groceries and gas, and making small businesses a central focus of Georgia’s economy.
“I will be a governor for all of Georgia. I will use my voice, and I will use whatever power I have to make sure that we continue to stand up against the Trump Administration. I will stand strong against the Trump Administration policies that are targeting our immigrant communities, and remind the people of Georgia that we really are better than this,” said Keisha. “We are better than the policies that have come from the Trump Administration, and we are better than the candidate in Rick Jackson, who says that there is no daylight between him and Donald Trump. We are better than the candidate who wants to take us backwards in Georgia.
“What I do know we have in common is that we're all Georgians here, and I am here to support Keisha Lance Bottoms because she has a tangible plan to actually make the lives of Georgians better,” said Georgia House District 109 candidate Juan Estrada. “She wants to expand Medicaid. She wants to do something about the cost of housing. Housing has become consistently unaffordable over the last 15 years under Republican leadership. Keisha also wants to fund pre-K…I am here to support Keisha Lance Bottoms because she has tangible plans to make Georgia a better place.”
“I am here in support of Mayor Bottoms because she is here to support the immigrant community and to support organizations like the Latin American Association. I had the opportunity to ask Mr. Jackson what he would do when ICE breaks the law, because we know they have extremely aggressive tactics. They are hunting our community. Our community does not feel safe,” said Georgia State Senate District 48 candidate Laura Murvartian. We can talk about affordability, but if you don't physically feel safe in this country, affordability comes second. We need a governor who is going to see us as humans instead of degrading our humanity, and who sees the issues that are the reality of the immigrant community and not gaslighting us…She [Keisha] understands the issues that our community is facing, and she is ready to fight.”
