Bottoms Continues Call to Extend Gas Tax Suspension As Georgians Pay Nearly A Dollar More Per Gallon
Bottoms: ‘My Republican Opponents Have Refused to Stand Up for Georgians Who Need Relief Right Now’
ATLANTA — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement reiterating her call to extend the suspension of the gas tax as Georgians are paying nearly a dollar more per gallon than they did in June 2025.
“Georgians across our state tell me their budgets are being stretched thin by sky-high gas prices and rising costs in every area of their lives. Donald Trump’s war with Iran is causing major pain at the pump and Georgia’s leaders should extend the gas tax suspension to help Georgia’s families,” said Bottoms. “Georgia needs a governor who understands the challenges families are facing and my Republican opponents have refused to stand up for Georgians who need relief right now. As governor, my top priority will be lowering costs and standing up for Georgians when the chaos coming from the White House is hurting our state.”
Her statement comes as new reporting from the Associated Press details how soaring gas prices have led to the highest level of inflation in three years. According to the New York Times, fuel prices are among the many areas where families are facing rising costs, including grocery prices, health care services, utility bills, and rent prices.
