Jackson and Trump Are In Business Together Selling Out Georgians Paying Sky-High Gas Costs
Bloomberg: Georgia GOP Candidate Jackson Loans $20 Million to Texas Oil Refinery Trump Touted
ATLANTA — Today, new reporting from Bloomberg revealed Rick Jackson loaned $20 million to a Texas oil refinery project promoted by Donald Trump. This comes as Trump is campaigning in Georgia for Jackson for the third time in 2 weeks. One thing is clear: while Georgians are paying sky-high costs for gas, Trump and Jackson are in business together and barnstorming the state with their cost-raising agenda.
While Jackson is continuing his ties to Trump as his reckless policies hurt Georgians, Keisha Lance Bottoms is focused on lowering costs for Georgians through her DRIVE plan by saving the average Georgia driver $110 dollars per year by eliminating the state auto insurance premium tax, rolling back the gas tax to 28 cents per gallon and diesel tax to 31.3 cents per gallon, and ending automatic annual fuel-tax increases.
“Rick Jackson continues to tie himself to Trump in any way he can, including in his business. While Trump's war in Iran is raising gas prices for Georgians, Jackson is investing $20 million to a Texas oil refinery Trump touted,” said TaNisha Cameron, Keisha for Governor campaign spokesperson. “Georgians can’t trust Slick Rick to put Georgia ahead of Trump – whenever he has the chance he would rather line his pockets while Georgians pay the price. Whether at the pump or the checkout counter, Keisha is focused on putting Georgians first.”

Bloomberg: Georgia GOP Candidate Jackson Loans $20 Million to Texas Oil Refinery Trump Touted
Georgia GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson loaned $20 million dollars at 12% interest to a new oil refinery planned for the Texas coast that President Donald Trump has hailed as a major victory in his quest for “energy dominance.”
Jackson’s ties to the project have become a flashpoint in the contest to decide who will lead the nation’s eighth-largest economy.
Keisha Lance Bottoms, has unveiled ads slamming his role in the fossil-fuel installation as well as his ties to Trump. An Atlanta Journal Constitution poll ranks the race effectively a dead heat.
The president is so bullish on America First’s development that the project is listed on the White House website as the single largest investment in US manufacturing and industry, pegging its value at $300 billion. Donald Trump Jr. has praised Jackson for stepping up to help finance the refinery.
Jackson’s role in financing the refinery emerged during testimony in his United States Tax Court suit against the Internal Revenue Service over deductions tied to low-budget movie productions. In response to a question about whether any loans made by his investment firm, Jackson Investment Group, have been particularly successful, he alluded to the proposed Brownsville refinery.
“Rick Jackson also invests in petroleum companies,” Bottoms said in a Sept. 30 media briefing aired by CSPAN. “He is sending diesel fuel to India as we speak. We are watching our farmers across this state, our truck drivers across this state struggle to be able to afford to put gas, to put diesel fuel in their trucks, to get their farm equipment up and running.”
