Atlanta, GA — Today, Democratic candidate for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms released the following statement marking the 53rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.

“Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, a ruling that gave women across America the right to make their own reproductive health care decisions.

“Over the past few years, the Courts have thrown out national protections and extremist Republicans in Georgia have restricted our rights. Not only are our daughters living in a state with fewer rights than we had, women are facing unnecessary obstacles in their pregnancies and too many mothers are dying from delayed care and preventable complications.

“As Governor, I will stand with women, restoring our rights and implementing policies which protect women’s health, decrease maternal mortality, and eliminate medically unnecessary laws written by right-wing politicians."
